Was gonna buy the aeros but then my dad told me to stop by the shop today. Turns out the plant he manages is currently running cement pillar tube molds... Such as this one. Just so happens that theyre 6" in diameter which is just what i needed. I grabbed four of them today, and cut two of the four to 10" in depth and im goin to attempt to flare an inch, to put me at around 9" in depth. This way i a mounting lip, and a nice little flare on the inside.

So flaring the port didnt go that well, this plastic is like PVC pipe plastic. A little thinner and whatnot. No biggie though, ill have these for a while i can rack up the money to order Presicion Ports. But heres what i got done tonight.
Started to cut sub holes.

Then the port holes

Very Happy

Then glued the face and screwed it on and shit.

The subs and ports arent mounted yet. Still need to get t-bolts for the subs, some sealent strip for the port... THEN 45's on the inside of the box, then fiberglass, then done.

Heat gun to the port until its maluable, then slowly press and rotate on a metal bowl while you heat to slowly create a flare. Didnt work too good with this plastic. Fugg it

I didnt notice any bracing. Single baffle of that length is going to flex. I have used and love wood dowels or a good solid 2x4. Id glue and screw one between the ports and you should be good

Funny you said that, i have a ten foot peice of 1x1" wood, ill end up cutting it to size and putting it exactly where you said. Just waiting to pick up some fiberglass and all that good stuff.

Not a hobby im new to lol. You plan to fiberglass the inside of the box? It most likely wont make a diffrence if your thinking the smoothness added will help get louder. If you add any glass, lay some mat or hair into the corners and angle it so it makes a 45 and it should add some strength

Re: POS Hardbody build

Your pretty good ill give you that. But im not doing the glass for air flow. Even Home Depot isnt perfect with the cuts, which is expected. There is a little gap on the sides, nothing major at all, plan on laying some mat down to seal up the gap and strengthin it up. As for my 45s, im not the best with angles and a skillsaw. But at the shop my pops found these 1/8" thick cardboard tubing for the big saran wrap rolls they use for packaging. About 3" in diameter, so ill be cutting them into 4 peices, and glueing/glassing them in place to give a little bit of a radius in the corners. Sorry for the essay...

I wouldnt even do all that. Just put some chaulk in the gaps first. Let it dry and lay some mat i nthe corners you want, prop the box up so the corner is at a 45 degree angle and pour the mix into that corner. Here is my first attempt a few yrs back before I learned what mat was lol

Thats a pretty good idea, but thats going to call for a shit load of resin... How would you do that with the mat? Just lay the mat down at a 45 and resin it straight to the wood?

Re: POS Hardbody build

I used I think 2 cans. I painted on some resin first so the mat would lay down the poured wha t I thought I needed in and let it sit. Then do the next corner. Dont need all the corners done. If possible just do the corners of the baffle the subs are on. Those are gonan be the most stressful corners since the subs are trying to pull that panel off lol

IF you just want to lay donw mat then just take a 99 cent brush, lay down some resin, lay the may down on it and then paint resin on top of it till its soaked completely

I may have to try that. That worked out good when you did it? Just fr strength or air flow as well?
